Information for tomorrow's vote (Hill's Group)

Last edited Mon Mar 14, 2016, 10:22 PM - Edit history (1)

*Note: technically EST is EDT, since we're in daylight savings, but all states involved use EDT, so I used EST to avoid confusion.

7:30PM Eastern Time

North Carolina (107 delegates): Polls close at 7:30 EST, but the board of elections has discretion to keep them open until 8:30 EST if necessary. I wouldn't anticipate this happening in a primary.

Ohio (143 delegates): Polls close at 7:30PM local, which is 7:30 EST

8:00PM Eastern Time

Florida (214 delegates): Polls close at 7PM local. But like Michigan, Florida has a portion of the state (the panhandle) in the central timezone. So most of the state closes at 7PM EST, but they can't call it until the rest of the state finishes at 8PM EST. If you recall, this is ground zero for that rule, because in 2000 they called the state for Gore before the panhandle had finished voting. Also, we might see something Michigan-like where votes start coming in after 7PM EST, even though voting is still happening.

Illinois (156 delegates): Polls close at 7PM local, which is 8PM EST.

Missouri (71 delegates): Polls close at 7PM local, which is 8PM EST.

EDIT: I had the Ohio poll closing wrong.

North Carolina to be called for Hillary at 7:30.

At 8, Florida gets called for Hillary.

Missouri will be too early to call. I think Bernie eventually wins this, but they won't call it for a while.

Illinois will be too close to call, and will get counted way into the night.

At 8:30, Ohio will be too close to call, and likewise will be counted late into the night.
