Thu Mar 17, 2016, 04:54 PM
Mar 2016

Like how Clinton is using 2008 Obama's successful delegate strategy and Sanders is using 2008 Clinton's unsuccessful state wins strategy. Bernie's campaign has even been vocal lately about trying to "flip" delegates, both pledged and super-delegates, which is basically the argument Clinton tried when she was badly behind and knew she would not be able to catch up on pledged delegates. Sanders even has his own "Mark Penn" in Tad Devine. Both Devine and Penn are consultants who deceived their own campaigns for their own enrichment.

But I supported Clinton in 2008, and she campaigned pretty deep into the calendar, so I'm not trying to imply Sanders should drop out. I'm just pointing out that we already know the script for this play, and ultimately, the ending.

Registered Democrats outnumber Republicans in the state by 40.6 percent to 30.5 percent. Democrats
cast 45.3 percent of the early ballots, while Republicans cast 31.7 percent. For Democrats, that’s about the same as 2012, when they cast 45.5 percent of the early votes. Republican early turnout was down from 33.8 percent in 2012.

for Hillary AND for the country AND the world.

She has fought the hard fight. There is still a ways to go. But I have no doubt that she will continue and not rest on her laurels. She will build on her base and attract the non-crazies from everywhere.

She has been the best candidate in a hard-fought primary and Bernie has been a surprisingly resilient and worthy opponent. I wish that MOM could have lasted longer because he was also a worthy opponent. We Dems are blessed with our candidates. The other side - NOT so much.

I don't really have time to look through all the posts this am to ensure that my link below is not repetitive. I'm flying west to visit family in MT and my youngest granddaughter (9) in NV and won't be back until just before Easter so will likely not be on-line as much as recently.

But this seems a great OP for posting this link, if it hasn't already been posted and I hope that, if it hasn't someone else will post it as an OP. Things look VERY good for our historical candidate Hillary!

Hillary Clinton Versus Donald Trump: The Battle Ahead http://www.newyorker.com/news/john-cassidy/hillary-clinton-versus-donald-trump-the-battle-ahead

At about eight-thirty last night, after the news came in that Donald Trump had trounced Marco Rubio in Florida, and that Hillary Clinton had won big victories over Bernie Sanders in Florida and North Carolina, Tony Fratto, who was a White House spokesman for George W. Bush’s Administration, tweeted, “What essentially happened today is @HillaryClinton was elected president. We have 8 months of hyperventilating before its official.”

Since overstatement is the norm on Twitter, this divination perhaps didn’t merit much attention, taken on its own. But it reflected a growing belief among Republicans in Washington that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are unstoppable, and that, come November, this will spell disaster for the Grand Old Party. By the end of the night on this Ides of March, the third successive primary Tuesday, the gloom in the Republican establishment had deepened further, as both Clinton and Trump had taken huge steps toward securing their respective parties’ nominations.

I love all in the HCG and any Sanders supporters who will join us to defeat the GOP in the GE!

That is the most important thing of all. I'll also be happy to see those who have been so unfairly and constantly silenced return among us once again.

Thu Mar 17, 2016, 12:59 PM
Mar 2016

In eastern MT now and very much enjoying family and friends here, ALL of whom are ecstatic and exuberant over Clinton's sweep on Tuesday! So much for "no enthusiasm for Clinton," LOL. I'll head for the western side later and NV next week.

The primary here is on June 7. http://www.270towin.com/2016-democratic-nomination/montana-primary

If the election were purely among Dems, Clinton would have very good odds of winning in MT. But it is an open primary, so Bernie could do very well here, although that is not so much of a given after Tuesday's results as it would otherwise have been.

No prob with the tardy reply. I read Skinner's OP and am delighted to see so MANY wonderful posters back on the board, presumably to stay, and have enjoyed and K&R'ed the various celebratory threads about them!

It is telling that I have seen no equivalent celebratory threads in the SBS group (perhaps there have been some that I missed), and I noticed an OP about that here. Instead, what I have seen are various threads wanting to know why PPR'ed individuals cannot be welcomed back.

Double standards all over the place, it seems. But our candidate is STILL the best AND she is winning!

But if Florida was a bonanza that widened the delegate gap between them, Ohio was the wild card win that allowed Clinton to shift her gaze forward -- her 13-point victory represented a staggering blow to Sanders, who was not able to translate his economic message and opposition to foreign trade deals into success in Ohio and Illinois. In the other industrial Midwestern states to vote Tuesday, Clinton held a slight lead in Missouri with 99 percent of the vote in.

The Clintons had deeper roots in Ohio, which the Democratic frontrunner won eight years ago, and had more union backing there than she did in Michigan. That contributed to big wins across the state -- she won early voters by over 40 points in Cleveland; by almost 30 in Columbus; by almost 40 in Cincinnati; and by over 40 in Dayton, a Clinton campaign aide said, crediting campaign manager Robby Mook’s game plan for the resounding win.

Sanders did outspend Clinton in the March 15 primaries http://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/sanders-narrowly-outspends-clinton-ads-march-15-states-n538836

Bernie Sanders has outspent Hillary Clinton in advertisements in the March 15 primary states, $6.3 million to $5.3 million overall, including in Missouri, North Carolina and Ohio, according to ad-spending data from SMG Delta.

Clinton, meanwhile, has outspent Sanders in Florida and Illinois.

I admit that I am impressed by the Sanders fundraising efforts but I am glad that Clinton kept the margins close enough to win. In 2012, President Obama was outspent by the GOP and Romney but still won.

Hillary got more bang for her buck$$$$$$!

President Obama got outspent by RMoney but he had Obama.. and Hillary will have Obama in the 2016 GE like she campaigned for him in 2008.

I love it.. full circle!

And remember that Jane Sanders is positioned to receive a commission on ad buys! (No sarcasm--she is officially in this position within the campaign).
They will have one hell of a book to promote when it is all over as well, no doubt. Sanders (both of them) will also likely be sought after for speaking engagements after the National campaign has brought lots of celebrity to them, too, just like so many other high profile people. With all their new-found clout maybe the Sanders would actually head up a charitable foundation to further some of their causes.
You never know!

There is too much money out there for him, and for Jane, to scoop up. Also, the Democratic Party, the one he has used and disdained, may decide to run a strong Democrat against him in the near future. He could lose an election against a real opponent. If he does stay, he deserves to be given meaningless committee assignments and obscure jobs. He has earned that.

I guess much of what happens next depends on how Sanders handles himself now!
