(1,048 posts)Doesn't take a genius to read the FULL context of what he said to know he wasn't talking about Obama. The only people who have jumped on this are the GOP and Sanders. I see it as an attempt to try and once again undermine why Black voters support Hillary Clinton in an overwhelming matter. Makes me sick!!

(24,544 posts)Bears repeating, Hekate. I always thought that we distinguished ourselves from republicans by rejecting this type of misrepresentation and downright lying. Yet it is being gleefully embraced by some people here who should, and probably do, know better but are willing to broadcast any slime they can against the Clintons. Their hate for our leading nominee has reached the rabid stage, and it is becoming impossible to distinguish them from from the extremist right wing.

That is the same "legacy" Bill Clinton was referring to. CNN knows better. But click-bait is the business they're in.

As to the topic, it was clear the instant anyone read the headline yesterday when it came out, that it was impossible for Bill to have been talking about Obama, even IF Bill believed it and I am sure he doesn't, he would never EVER say it out loud.

(67,782 posts).....watch the entire video, but in the posted snippet(s), Bill didn't even mention Obama at all!
My take was that he was referring to the record of the republican Congress, both houses, over the last eight years and the seven before that.

(15,220 posts)Bill Clinton is NOT dumb enough to block a polling place and put himself into a situation where he has violated voting rights laws. He's simply been around the block enough to know what can and cannot be done.
He's also not going to shoot Hillary's campaign in the foot by saying something derogatory about the administration of the man who appointed Hillary as Secretary of State.
The desperation of the people who perpetuate these idiot stories simply astounds me.

(12,309 posts)I have my doubts the posters are Democrats at all. Think back, how many times have we been rescued, lead and proud of Bill Clinton....hundreds of times as Democrats. This current trash talking we are seeing makes me hate DU. There, I said it.
I hear enough from the right wing talking heads and now GOP candidates how they negatively demonize both President Obama and President Bill Clinton. It has no business here....using right wing demonetization .

Pro-tip: when you see a 24-second video clip from a right wing PAC, its almost certainly an out-of-context dishonest hit job.

Bill Clinton did NOT refer to the Obama presidency as an "awful legacy" - this is yet another right wing distortion http://lgf.bz/1pGQALs
Far Right PAC Releases Deceptive Video to Make It Seem Like Bill Clinton Was Bashing Obama
Another fraudulent attack - and Bernie Sanders helps them spread it

Heres the latest deceptive video being circulated by right wingers to smear Bill Clinton by taking a statement out of context. Notice: its a 24-second clip, posted to YouTube by the far right propaganda PAC calling itself America Rising.
Heres the full statement with the sections cut out of this clip:
I literally from the time I met her 45 years ago until we talked yesterday, she is the best change maker I have ever known. She always finds a way to make something good happen, to make people feel empowered, to buy people into the process, to make democracy work the way the framers intended for it to work. Now if you dont believe we can all grow together again, if you dont believe were ever going to grow again, if you believe its more important to re-litigate the past, there may be many reasons that you dont want to support her.
But if you believe we can all rise together, if you believe weve finally come to the point where we can put the awful legacy of the last eight years behind us and the seven years before that where we were practicing trickle-down economics with no regulation in Washington, which is what caused the crash, then you should vote for her. Because shes the only person who basically has good ideas, will tell you how shes going to pay for them, can be commander-in-chief, and is a proven change maker with Republicans and Democrats and Independents alike.
And heres Bill Clintons statement tonight about this fake controversy:
An aide to Bill Clinton says the legacy he was referring to was Republicans obstructionism.
When Republicans controlled the White House, their trickle-down approach drove our economy to the brink of a collapse. After President Obama was elected, Republicans made it their number one goal to block him at every turn, spokesman Angel Urena said in a statement. That unprecedented obstruction these last eight years is their legacy, and the American people should reject it by electing Hillary Clinton to build on President Obamas success so we can all grow and succeed together.
This video clip is now posted all over the right wing universe, and its fraudulent; its an edited clip that distorts Bill Clintons words to make it seem like the awful legacy of the last eight years was referring to the Obama presidency. But it wasnt. He was talking about the economic collapse and the subsequent Republican obstructionism during the Obama presidency. Thats what President Clinton meant by awful legacy the legacy of Republican economic malfeasance and obstructionism.
Pro-tip: when you see a 24-second video clip from a right wing PAC, its almost certainly an out-of-context dishonest hit job.

(4,542 posts)That there is a group on DU that thinks the majority of Democratic voters and Hillary supporters are idiots. Real big of them.
Now that paints an interesting picture of just what they are made of, how they think, and how they act out. How could ANYONE possibly be interested in any candidate that THEY would choose? No way.

(879 posts)That we all know what he meant. We don't need context.
Does any sane Democrat actually think that President Clinton was bashing President Obama? Of course not. I expect RWers to distort things to make it look like a former Democratic President is criticizing the current one.
But we should flatly not have to deal with that here. Everyone knows Bill was not talking about Barack, because it makes absolutely no sense.
Like if Donald Trump says something coherent, you know it was an accident or mistake. No reason to pretend otherwise.
