They haven't experienced the heartbreak some of us have now sublimated. Its like the hurt from the first breakup. Its the worst. We just need to be patient and they will come around.

But the most vociferous of them won't. The berniedudes. And they are trying their best to poison the well.

As Bernie says, both Hillary and he on their worst days are 100 times better than Trump. So they vote for Stein on "progressive principle". Way to spit on the Supreme Court, women's reproductive health, the Iran deal, the ACA, everything Obama has accomplished in the last eight years despite unprecedented obstruction. But their "progressive principles" will remain intact even though their country would become a Kansas or a Louisiana, their fellow citizens becoming lab rats in a great right wing experiment. But we'd deserve it, in their view, because we didn't vote for Bernie. It's privilege and a narcissistic self-entitlement on steroids.

Even more than the UK, the US is a first-past-the-post system when it comes to the Presidency. In the UK, the Prime Minister is based out of the House of Commons, so you can have regionally strong parties that aren't strong nationally have a say in who governs from Downing Street. That's why they have several parties represented in the Commons (Labour, Tories, and Liberal Democrats, which are national, and the Scottish National Party and Plaid Cymru, the Northern Irish parties, which are regional, and some small fry.) But even they band together in roughly two coalitions.

In the US election of President, it is black and white. If you don't want black, you cannot vote for grey, you must vote for white. If you vote for grey, you are throwing your vote away, and by doing so, you are making the job of black a little easier. You are giving black a little less headwind, and denying white a little tailwind. That means you are making it more likely for black to win. Those of us who will be hurt by black winning aren't going to thank you for thinking your principles are more important than our lives.

They might understand better perhaps if the word advantage was used instead of privilege.

As a white male I would not be personally affected by restrictions on women's birth control rights. However most women I know would.

Being a liberal means one has empathy for other people's rights not just one's own.

They think it's fun to support the quirky old, disheveled uncle type. It's what all the hip kids are doing.

While Bernie does have some good ideas, his lack of expertise and knowledge in many key areas should be of concern to any thoughtful voter. Yet some that support him are so blindly passionate that it is impossible to have an intelligent conversation with them about any issue, even those which I think Bernie has better views than Hillary.

DA's that don't know what the political system is like in this country. It's brutal and you'd better be ready, which they weren't. Obama knew this is '08, Hillary learned from him.

on DU, Salon, and HuffPost that is is almost as if they need to convince themselves and keep the acolytes in line. The articles are so full of negativity and hyperbole, it is hard not to laugh at the ridiculousness of it all.

There were calls in 2008 for Hillary tot drop out after a 115 delegate lead. Hillary has an over 300 delegate lead. The only way to keep the contest going is to develop the mentality they have right now.
