Ive got two names for you. Al Franken and Ted Kennedy.
To say that Im done listening to the criticism of the democratic party is an understatement. Its jaw dropping to listen to those who are demanding a political revolution to insinuate that President Obama or the democratic party has not done enough or that weve lost our way.
In the modern era, our party has never been stronger. Our bench has never been deeper, our fellow Americans know it and its why they trust us to lead and not republicans. We have achieved a great deal in the last eight years, thanks to the leadership of President Obama and his team-which includes Hillary.
956,733 miles traveled, 112 countries visited in four years, 401 days of travel, US international relationships rebuilt
And her DU criticizers want to talk about email. WHAT A JOKE! Its a Karl Rove tactic, attacking someones strength and it's infuriating to see on DU!
Pay no mind to these people, where were they in 2010? WHERE? Where was Sanders when we were trying to fight off the Tea Party? Where was his political revolution then?
I am damn proud of President Obama! I am damn proud of Nancy Pelosi, I am damn proud of Harry Reid! Weve achieved great things in era of Obama. We did the work and we have a great list of achievements to show for it. Give the haters the bird! Where are their accomplishments?
Let me remind you of this. In 2009, after the President and the democratic congress was sworn in, we had 59 senate seats. 59. Al Franken was sworn into the U.S. Senate on July 7, 2009 due to the contested senate race in Minnesota with Norm Coleman. Ted Kennedy died of a brain tumor on August 25, 2009.
Get that?
Thats how long we had as a filibuster proof majority. Sure there was Paul Kirk who Governor Deval Patrick appointed in the interim, but even he was only there September 24, 2009 February 4, 2010. February 4th 2010 is the day that Republican Senator Scott Brown was sworn into office, which would not have happened if political revolutionaries would have showed up to vote for the democrat. WHERE. WERE. THEY?
All of our major legislative achievements happened in less than half of a congressional term, if that is not considered historic and extremely successful, nothing ever will be! What we achieved in that tiny amount of time is massively monumental!

Emo Progressive (or "emoprog" is a self-described liberal or progressive, often with libertarian leanings, whose political orientation is to be angry, dissatisfied and unhappy with the state of the nation at any given time, because in their view, liberal policies are not being implemented quickly or forcefully enough. They have particular contempt for Democratic presidents.
Emoprogs are ideological purists who disdain compromise and incremental change, which they see as "selling out" liberal ideas like full employment, an end to all wars, state secrets, and liberal social policy.
Emoprogs dislike Republicans but reserve their greatest disdain for Democratic presidents, whom they relentlessly attack for not meeting a set of ideological goal posts that are constantly adjusted to ensure that the president will be deemed a disappointment, "not progressive enough" or "just like a Republican" no matter what policy achievements are made.
Emoprogs routinely dismiss or ignore congress' role in making or impeding policy, believing presidents can simply "use the bully pulpit" and "fight" in order to overcome constitutional or legislative obstacles.
Emoprogs have a strong affinity for 3rd party politics as a way to punish Democratic presidents. They are especially hostile to President Obama and deem anyone who expresses a lack of ill will toward him to be "Obamabots" and enemies of liberalism.
I'll take the slow steady progress and solid foundation of President Obama and Hillary Clinton over the blowing up of the Dem party to get trump elected and our Democracy to smithereens.
Thankfully most of the country recognizes the progress of President Obama as he is @ 53% percemt today.. that's post the Belgium terrorist attack.
Thank you, Gary!

(5,044 posts)I will admit that it felt really good to write this OP, it's so frustrating to see members of DU use GOP talking points. Yes, I'm with you my friend, I will take slow and steady any day over the alternative. The man who shall not me named other than the Tan Toupe must be kept as far away from the oval office.

(5,044 posts)People are so sick of this ridiculous gridlock. I consider myself a progressive like the best of us, but I too am a progressive that likes to get things done. These ideologist are destroying our country, we need to work together and I believe that we can do so without destroying our planet.

(5,044 posts)Although Sander's has stated on the record that if he does not win the nomination, then he will spend his career "rebuilding" the democratic party. Basically if he looses, he will do what Hillary has been doing all along...
