Argentina´s state telecoms company Invap is to build nine new free-to-air DTT stations for Venezuela after the two countries' governments signed an agreement in order to strengthen the DTT network.
Digital broadcasting in Venezuela started at the beginning of this year and thanks to an agreement signed in 2004 with Argentina, the Caribbean state has the necessary technology to expand a DTT network across the country.
Now Invap, which is already a partner of Venezuela´s state operator Cantv, will design, engineer, manufacture, install and test nine new stations which will make the network stronger as Venezuela doesn't have the infrastructure required for accomplishing the whole process.
Argentina is actually the main player in Venezuela's digital revolution, as apart from providing broadcasting technologies, it has also sold 750,000 set-top boxes to Venezuela in a bid to bring DTT coverage to 60% of Venezuelans.
