I don't mind Jamaicans, and I only have praise for the feats that their athletes have accomplished, but this belongs in a different geo-cultural region forum

Alternative would be to change the name of the forum. That would be a non starter.

(160,451 posts)Where would you place Haiti?
Where would the various Spanish-speaking islands go?
Maybe you'd allow the people who've been here for years the luxury of continuing a very old pattern of putting news regarding these islands you don't like right here where they've been, all along.

(160,451 posts)You've taken time out from your unique postings on a progressive website, developed for progressive people, to share the news you don't mind Jamaicans.
Isn't that special!

(2,035 posts)Just like I wouldn't feel offended if someone said "I don't mind Venezuelans" or "I don't mind Italians". If you somehow took that the wrong way, I can't help you there, sorry. Also, regarding your other post, Dominican Republic and Haiti could arguably count as Latin American since their people's culture and history (with the exception of their native populations, of course) was influenced by civilizations which used a Latin-derived language, such as the Spanish, Portuguese, or French. When one refers to Latin America, generally they refer to the cultural region which was influenced mostly by those particular European entities, especially through language. Jamaica, as you might know, was mostly colonized by the British, and their most widely spoken and official language is English, hence why it isn't technically considered part of Latin America, same case as some other islands in the Caribbean such as the US and British Virgin Islands, Trinidad & Tobago, or the islands that comprised the former Netherlands Antilles, or even countries in mainland South America, such as Guyana and Suriname.
Also, when did I ever say that I "dislike" any of those islands? Please, be my guest and quote me verbatim, with a link to a source and everything, if you found anything that might even slightly insinuate that I dislike those islands or their people. Living in Miami, I've met a lot of people from many countries in the Caribbean, including Jamaica, Haiti, and DR, likely many more than you yourself have, and I've actually made some good friends among them, so please don't try to put words in my mouth or accuse me of disliking a certain group of people because of their nationalities, because you certainly don't know me or the people that I know and get along with. It seems almost like you want to immediately start turning every discussion that I participate in into a personal battle. I've never personally attacked you or anyone in this site, so I kindly request that you do the same.
