Fidel Castro: Cuba Never Denied Snowden Access

---

“It is obvious that the United States will always try to pressure Cuba… but not for nothing has [Cuba] resisted and defended itself without a truce for 54 years and will continue to do so for as long as necessary,” Fidel Castro said in an official column published on Wednesday.

Furthermore, Castro said he admired the courageous and just declarations made by Snowden, who, in his opinion, has rendered a service to the world by revealing the “disgustingly dishonest policy” of the US.

The report published by the Kommersant newspaper indicated that the US authorities pressured Cuba into denying Snowden access to the country. It claimed that the Latin American country told Russia that its aircraft would not be allowed to land if Snowden was on board.

Snowden was left stranded in the transit area of a Moscow airport since the US canceled his passport and he lived there for over a month before Russian authorities granted him temporary asylum.
