Che Guevara the new star signing for Brazilian club Madureira - as they put his face on their kit.
A third division Brazilian team have struck gold with one of the most recognisable strips in history.
Madureira, based in Rio de Janeiro have released a new kit, which features the face of Che Guevara.
The revolutionary's bearded face appears on the club's new maroon strip - created to commemorate their tour of Cuba in 1963, while the goalkeeper's shirt is designed exactly like the island's flag.
And the creation hasn't gone to waste - with sales rocketing to more than 3,000 in the weeks since it was launched, a considerable leap from the usual 10 a month.
The club had originally put Guevara's face on their seven-a-side shirts, although its early success has changed that, with club president Elias Duba revealing it will take its place on the first-team strip.

(11,791 posts)I usually start with a little backstory about Batista in general and relations with the US. But I always talk about Moncada. Have to explain how Fidel ends up in Mexico and then how he meets Che and all.
Sometimes, though, depending on the time I have, I'll go into greater detail about the colonial relationship between the US and Cuba

(42,239 posts)To demonstrate what a heroic fight his troops had put up against the resistance Batiista arranged for bodies to rounded up and dressed in military uniforms and adorned throughout the building. New uniforms were used with a notable absense of bullet holes.
Castro escaped to the hills and Batista ordered he be shot on sight. A young lieutenant found him and Castro talked him in to taking him back alive. When the revolution finally succeeded the lieutenant was found and rewarded with a governmemt position.
Moncada barracks was converted into a medical school - a promise made and kept.

(770 posts)I think it was a shame how the revolution failed, and adopted a Stalinist system. That system they ended up with sure stinks. And now they are trying to copy the Chinese.
