Maduro government 'occupies' Venezuela electronics chain

(Reuters) - Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro has ordered the "occupation" of a chain of electronic goods stores in a crackdown on what the socialist government views as price-gouging hobbling the country's economy.

Various managers of the five-store, 500-employee Daka chain have been arrested, and the company will now be forced to sell products at "fair prices," Maduro said late on Friday.

State media showed soldiers in one Daka shop, some checking the price tags on large flat-screen TVs.

"We're doing this for the good of the nation," said Maduro, 50, who accuses wealthy businessmen and right-wing political opponents backed by the United States of waging an economic "war" against him.

And it's a bit coincidental too that it just happened to be during a day that many people were talking about to go out to protest en masse.

Guess electronics will now be added to the list of products that will now become scarce.

But Hey!!! At least Venezuela won Miss Universe, so that's a plus, I guess...

There's also talk about imposing a limit on how much profit a private company can make. And regarding all the lootings and pillages, Maduro is also claiming that the opposition is the one who provoked them, when it was HIM who said "Everything must go", and he himself has more influence and voice in the country than anyone else, considering how they're gradually controlling more and more of all media outlets in Venezuela. Oh, and did you also know that they're trying to shutdown every website/news outlet that reports how much the parallel dollar exchange rate is?
