(62,265 posts)Blood will be spilled tonight. As if it isn't every other night. But this is blood over politics, not food or money.
The police then came in and took the place of the protesters.
PROOF POSITIVE that the Tupamaros are working for the police.
I saw it with my own eyes. Holy shit.

(111,120 posts)With the amount of gunfire after the APCs rolled in, it seems like the 3 dead, 20 wounded from a couple of nights ago has been exceeded.
Maduro might have jumped the shark. Let's hope his own party replaces him.

(2,035 posts)Doing so would be not following the Intergalactic Supreme Commander's last order before the Cubans unplugged him back in December (Not March). If they replace Maduro, it'll make them look extremely weak and will hurt a lot of whatever support they have left, which isn't really a lot judging from the Chavista manifestation that Maduro called for yesterday. They're basically almost up against the wall now, especially as more and more people start to join the students' struggle and more evidence comes up of the atrocities being committed by pro-government forces.

(57,936 posts)Or were the demonstrators the attackers?

(62,265 posts)So they were being a nuisance but they didn't attack any police. They ran for the most part. The heavily armed Tupamaros kept circling them so they didn't have the fortitude to escalate (no one starts throwing rocks when you have guys with handguns and rifles circling you on motorcycles).
You can watch the full replay if you want, it's only an hour long. I would suggest you at least go to the end to see who was being more violent. spanza also posted some video links about which side is more aggressive.
Hint: it's the side with armed thugs and armed police with APCs...

(57,936 posts)I understand that people felt drawn to him, but he traded too much on his strong personality. He developed quite a cult of personality in my opinion. The mistake was that his government was all about him and not about really building a democracy in which people participated and took responsibility. That is my opinion but I don't follow Venezuelan politics that much. Thanks for explaining the situation to me.
