Chile: 129 People Arrested, 3 Policemen Injured In Two Days Of Protests

SANTIAGO, March 31 (BERNAMA-NNN-AGENCIES) -- At least 98 people were arrested and three policemen were injured in Chile on Sunday as protesters gathered in major cities to commemorate two young Left activists who died in 1985.

According to the National Police (Carabineros), 92 people were arrested Sunday in Santiago and the other six people in other cities in the Young Combatants Day demonstrations.

Another 31 people were arrested on Saturday.

Every year, left-wing groups take to the streets of Chile's major cities in commemoration of the death of brothers Rafael and Eduardo Vergara in 1985, both members of a group against the junta of Augusto Pinochet.
