Argentine president becomes godmother to lesbian couple's child
President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, who has legalized same-sex marriage in the staunchly Catholic Argentina, is now the godmother of Umma Azul, whose parents approached the leader because of her strong support of gay rights.

Argentina's president has become the godmother to the child of a lesbian couple who was baptized in a Catholic church.
President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner has become godmother to tiny Umma Azul.
Kirchner legalized same-sex marriage in the staunchly Catholic nation.
One of the couple said they chose the president to thank her for supporting gay rights, reports the BBC.
The baptism took place in a Catholic church in the city of Cordoba, despite remaining opposed to gay marriage.
