Ros-Lehtinen concerned about Haiti vote delay

Ros-Lehtinen concerned about Haiti vote delay

MIAMI (AP) — A Florida congresswoman is calling on Haiti's Senate to approve an agreement seeking to organize long-overdue parliamentary and local elections in the Caribbean country.

U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., raised the elections in a meeting last month in Haiti with President Michel Martelly, fellow Republican Mario Diaz-Balart and Democrat Frederica Wilson.

Ros-Lehtinen said Wednesday she was concerned that the vote still was delayed. The elections would fill 20 of 30 Senate seats, all the seats in Haiti's 99-member Chamber of Deputies and 140 posts at the local level.

Haiti's executive and legislative branches and opposition parties agreed last month to organize elections before year's end. The Senate still must approve that agreement.

Ros-Lehtinen says Congress is "watching closely this process in Haiti as we examine our foreign aid package."

Lived in Miami for many year and active in politics... this b^%$# would show up at Democratic events, especially if the honor was for former Rep Carrie Meeks (her good friend she always said, not certain Carrie felt that way). I just can't abide her.

One night on Bill Maher's show, several years ago Richard Belzer was on with her and he called her an F****** B***** on the air. I was whooping for joy, Maher made him apologize.

You can be assured if she's worried about the Haitians.... there's something in it for her.

It would have been glorious to see Richard Belzer say that to her. What a beast.

There's no way whatsoever she gives a damn what happens to Haitians, so she must be doing it so Carrie Meeks will feel indebted to her, and she can call on her to repay her whenever she wants.

Almost all of the hideous torment handed to Haiti by the US has been at the hands of Republicans. The IRI looms huge in so much of their suffering. Republicans ARE the enemies of the Haitian people.

Oh, yeah, in Cuba, Ros-Lehtinen's social/political element was entirely, evilly racist, and they carried that with them to Miami.
