Mind your own business, Venezuela foreign minister tells Kerry

Venezuela's foreign minister on Monday rebuked his U.S. counterpart, John Kerry, for criticizing the handling of street protests and reiterated accusations Washington wants to topple the socialist government.

In the U.S. government's strongest comments since demonstrations began in February, Kerry said last week that Venezuela's government had shown "total failure" of good faith in now-suspended talks to stem the unrest.

In Venezuela's worst violence in a decade, 42 people have died during months of daily protests demanding President Nicolas Maduro's departure and solutions to economic hardships.

"This is not an issue that concerns Mr. John Kerry," Foreign Minister Elias Jaua told reporters on Monday after returning from the regional Unasur bloc's meeting in Ecuador.

2. They're trying to make it sound like the US wants to sanction Venezuela to try to gain support

But the reality is, they're only interested in sanctioning the high ranking individuals in the Venezuelan government by, say, freezing their bank accounts and suspending their visas to travel to the US, which, I think, the US has every right to do. And hey, since those in the regime consider the US to be enemy #1, it'd be kinda hypocritical of them to just happen to have businesses or spend their leisure time in American territory, dontcha think?

3. I wonder why they consider America to be enemy #1

Could it be because America's supporting the elite minority that is trying to overthrow the democratically elected government?

on the actual reasons for the disturbances in Venezuela rather than simply repeating meaningless tired talking points. Take a look at the hundreds of photos and videos available of people in the streets protesting the government's total inability to provide them with the basics of modern life - food, medical care, electricity, water and, above all, physical integrity and security from the daily carnage that is today's Venezuela. Do you really believe that the people you see are an 'elite minority'??

5. Just yesterday some of the paratroopers from the 4F coup attempt were protesting at Miraflores

And some of them even got detained. Even the goddamn military is getting sick of the assholes in charge of the regime. They're losing the respect of everybody. Pretty soon the only people they'll be able to trust will be their families and friends. Nobody supports this shitty-ass "socialist" farse anymore.

6. But it's really all the fault of the "oligarchical elite", controlled

by the CIA, doncha know? Maduro's regime is truly swirling the bowl right now. And the greatest danger to his regime isn't the US or the elite of Venezuela - it's Diosdado. He really needs to watch his back if he doesn't want to get toppled in a military coup.

Thanks, I took Latin American History in 9th grade and I've been interested ever since.
I won't reply to the others who responded to my first post since they didn't in any way refute it.

They are beyond equal in their high spirits, lovable personalities, and way cuter than is sensible!

Don't bother about responding. You'll see quickly there are some assorted trolls who have inserted themselves into a progressive message board who are allied totally with the European-descended, racist part of Latin America which is, in every way, exactly like our most repulsive Republicans.

Don't think a thing about it. There's nothing louder, and nastier than these guys.

In the meantime, we still get out the news when we find it, share it among ourselves, and keep ourselves informed to the best of our ability. We are the ones who do it, since you know already we have never been able to trust the corporate "news" media to share the real news about latin America with us. If they mention Latin American events, we get it garbled so what we're reading is probably the OPPOSITE of what has happened!

Doxies are exactly the right size for carrying, too! Congratulations on your superb taste!

9. Same BS the regime has been using as an excuse for the country's problems for 15 years now

It doesn't take a genius to see that the Venezuelan government is run by a bunch of uneducated, radical psychos who've made themselves multimillionaires through their high-ranking positions in an oil-rich nation. If there is an elite in Venezuela, it's the boligarchs in charge of the regime.

It's obvious you're just spewing propaganda from paranoid types like Eva Golinger. And as for my previous point, if the Chavistas consider the US enemy #1, why do they seem to have no problem traveling there for leisure and setting up businesses and properties there? Like I said, they're hypocrites, especially because the US is the reason Venezuela has had any sort of major income through oil exports, which has become the export the country depends on the most more than in any other time in its history. The government has completely ruined national production of all kinds of products and has been forced to import almost everything, despite the fact that they control more lands and properties than any other entity in the nation, so you can't say it's the US "making the economy scream."
