JUPITER, Florida Onesimo Marcelino Lopez-Ramos was savagely beaten to death in the brief time it took Heather Burga to go inside to use the bathroom.
From the window, Burga saw a sudden frenzy of flashlights darting across the darkened yard, where moments earlier she had been quietly drinking a late-night beer with her friend Marcelino and two of his family members.
No one was yelling; it was just commotionsuddenly there were people running all over the yard, she said, remembering the night of Friday, April 17.
When Burga returned outside, 18-year-old Marcelino was slumped dead in the driveway, laying face-down with blood spilling from his head. The mysterious assailants had scampered off into the thickening night, leaving Burga and Marcelinos injured brother to wait for the police in panicked disbelief.

One of the murder suspects called it Guat hunting or targeting Guatemalan immigrants for robbery, according to a statement given to police.
Onesimo Marcelino Lopez-Ramos, an 18-year-old Guatemalan immigrant living in Jupiter, Florida, was bludgeoned to death on April 18 an act that police believe may have been a hate crime. Three suspects have been arrested, although witness testimony suggests more men could have been at the scene.
The suspects in this case specifically targeted members of Hispanic community, they sought them out and this young man was ultimately killed as this crime unfolded, Jupiter Police Chief Frank Kitzerow said at a press conference on Monday.
The three suspects brothers Jesse Harris, 18, and David Harris, 19, and Austin Taggart, 19 all face charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery with a deadly weapon. The police are pursuing hate crime charges, which could lengthen the possible sentences the teens could receive if convicted.

An 18-year-old Guatemalan man in Jupiter, Florida who was on his way to work was bludgeoned to death in a violent robbery, say police, who are pushing to have it classified as a hate crime.
Jupiter police said Onesimo Marcelino Lopez-Ramos was targeted because he was Hispanic.
The day of the incident Lopez-Ramos was with his brother and a friend outside their friend's house, when five men approached them and wanted to talk. It seemed friendly at first, but the conversation turned and Lopez-Ramos and his friend began running away from the men. One of the suspects bashed a rock at Lopez-Ramos' head and killed him, according to the Sun Sentinel.
The probable cause report says one of the suspects appeared to be laughing when he said they were hunting for Guatemalans, reports the Sun Sentinel as well as WPTV, an NBC Affiliate in West Palm Beach.
