Colombia and Mexico Seek to Change US Regional Drug Policies
Published 10 May 2015 (2 hours 44 minutes ago)

Colombia’s president, a close Washington ally, questioned the double standards of U.S. policies abroad.

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos revealed that his country and Mexico will try to change U.S. drug policies toward the region in an interview published Sunday by Proceso magazine.

Santos announced that both countries would introduce the discussion in the next United Nations General Assembly meeting on drugs in 2016.

The Colombian president mentioned ongoing and growing efforts to decrimialize recreational and medical marijuana in the U.S., while similar efforts are not being promoted in Latin America.
