South American 'nannies' looking after Welsh sheep

South American 'nannies' looking after Welsh sheep
11 May 2015 at 3:55pm

A pair of South American 'nannies' have arrived in Wales to look after a flock of Welsh sheep.

Nervous mothers are now resting easier thanks to their two male super-nannies.

Alpacas from the Andes are guarding a flock of sheep at the National Trust’s farm, Hafod-y-Llan in north Wales.

In a first for the conservation charity, the two male alpacas, affectionately called Bill and Ben, though their real names are Hernandes and Zapata, are currently guarding a field of 50 ewes and their lambs from predators including foxes.

I love alpacas. They're not particularly loveable, but they are so smart. And alpaca fiber *drool*.

there was a couple down the road who raised llama and alpaca for fiber (I spin and weave), so I was fortunate to spend some up close and personal time with them. The babies are so cute you just want to laugh with joy when you see them!

Spinning, weaving would be enjoyable, worthwhile, and interesting.

Baby alpacas. Wow.
