Tit For Tat Kidnappings Linked To Some Policemen In Mexico
MEXICO CITY, May 29 (BERNAMA-NNN-EFE) -- Guerrero Governor Rogelio Ortega has alleged the recent abduction of 14 people by members of Los Ardillos criminal gang is linked to the disappearance of 30 people at the hands of Los Rojos gang in the preceding months.
In a radio interview on Wednesday, Ortega said the recent kidnappings are the result of a territorial dispute between the two criminal groups, and that abductions that occurred during an armed takeover of Chilapa on May 9 are "effects and consequences."
The governor said 14 police chiefs from rural communities surrounding Chilapa had told him that 30 people had been kidnapped by Los Rojos, the dominant gang in the region.
"That is what set off the action of May 9-10, an armed takeover of Chilapa to search for missing family members and to find criminals hiding in the social fabric of the municipality," he explained.
