Peruvian drug trafficker captured in Ecuador

A suspected Peruvian drug trafficker was arrested by the Peruvian National Police in neighboring Ecuador, police said.
Gerald Oropeza Lopez, who faces drug charges in Peru, was captured on Saturday, the Peruvian National Police said in a statement.
Oropeza was located in Ecuador as a result of extensive intelligence work and was arrested with the assistance of Ecuadorian authorities.
"We are grateful to the Ecuadorian police and its authorities for their cooperation," the Peruvian National Police said in the brief statement.
