Argentina: Riot police attack political sacking protesters

Argentina: Riot police attack political sacking protesters

ARGENTINIAN police savagely attacked public-sector workers yesterday as they protested against politically motivated sackings by the new right-wing government.

Some 100 workers were demonstrating in La Plata, capital of Buenos Aires province, against newly elected Republican Proposal (RP) party President Mauricio Macri’s cull of 10,000 civil servants that he claimed support the former ruling party.

Local RP Mayor Julio Garro decided not to renew 4,500 employment contracts that expired on December 31.

Police fired rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse the small protest. Photos on social media showed one woman with multiple bloody wounds to her back.

O.K., it took a while, but finally we do find a source from OUTSIDE the US corporate "news" media which tells us something our own DU poster with Argentinian ties already knew.
