G77 Rejects US Unilateral Sanctions against Venezuela

G77 Rejects US Unilateral Sanctions against Venezuela

United Nations, Mar 23 (Prensa Latina) The Group of 77 and China expressed today its rejection to the US government decision to renew its unilateral sanctions against Venezuela and called for its immediate revocation.
According to a statement, the G77 and China urged Washington to resolve its differences with the Venezuelan authorities through dialogue, under the principle of respect for sovereignty, self-determination of peoples and the UN Charter.

The group, which was founded in 1964 to articulate and promote within the UN system the interests of Southern countries on economic issues, recalled that international laws or mechanisms aimed at promoting friendship and cooperation among States should not be violated.

We also reaffirm the Declaration adopted at the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the G-77 and China, held in Bolivia in 2014, for its clear condemnation of laws, egulations and other coercive measures, including unilateral sanctions, against developing countries, the statement added.
