Increased Toll of Skin Cancer in Mexico City
Mexico, Mar 28 (Prensa Latina) Cases of skin cancer in the population settled in the Mexico City increased by 200 percent in 15 years, said today the capital city''s health secretary Armando Ahued, who called for taking preventive measures.
During the launch of a campaign for the sixth consecutive year to prevent the disease, Ahued said that the rise of skin cancer is mainly due to the thinning of the ozone layer and the constant people�s overexposure to sunlight.
He said that skin cancer is the second disease with highest rate nationwide for men and the third one for women, and although some years ago it was found mainly in people over 50 years old, it is currently affecting all ages.

Amid the measures that should be taken, Ahued mentioned to use preferably white clothes with long sleeves, hats and sunglasses, as well as apply sunscreen when leaving home and again every three hours.
