Mexican human rights groups report crimes against humanity

Mexican human rights groups report crimes against humanity
Jun 7, 4:23 PM EDT

MEXICO CITY (AP) -- Human rights groups in Mexico say the government has committed crimes against humanity in its war against drug cartels.

A report by the Justice Initiative is the first extensive analysis that says murder, torture and disappearances during Mexico*s drug war were serious atrocities committed by law enforcement and military personnel.

The report also blames the Zeta Cartel, one of Mexico*s most violent gangs, for crimes against humanity. The report calls on Mexican authorities to further investigate these cases.

The report was released to the public on Tuesday. Government authorities were not immediately available for comment.
