Brazilian Government Launches Privatization Program

Brazilian Government Launches Privatization Program

Brasilia, March 16 (Prensa Latina) The Brazilian government is launching a comprehensive privatization program with the concession of four airports in which it expects to invest 6.613 billion reais (more than two billion dollars).

The airport terminals that will be tendered are those of Porto Alegre, Salvador de Bahia, Florianópolis and Fortaleza and the concession will be for 25 years for the first of these and 30 years for the others.

As announced, among the requirements to participate in the auction the bidder company will have to verify its experience in operating, for five years or more, airports with at least nine million passengers for the terminals of Salvador and Porto Alegre, seven 7 million for Fortaleza and four for Florianópolis.

Meanwhile, the same economic group can win the dispute for more than one airport, as long as these are not located in the same geographic region.
