The week leading up to Ash Wednesday/Lent. Carnival
Work partial day Thursday, March 7. Grid crashes in afternoon.
Friday all work, school cancelled.
Monday all work, school cancelled.
If I recall, Maduro guaranteed (Friday) all electrical service was up to Caracas and 70% restored by days end.
I guess our Orange Menace is far more cunning that he lets on?

On national radio and television, the national president said: "I have decided to extend the suspension of work and school activities to 48 hours. Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12 and Wednesday, March 13, to continue working to stabilize the electric service ".
"I hope that between this morning and tomorrow, we will have a more stable result," said President Maduro.
He added that there is a great violation of human rights in Venezuela by the right with all the actions they carry out against the Venezuelan people.
"As Head of State, I believe there have been serious crimes against the human rights of our people, against the right to peace, to stability, that there has been a serious crime of treason against the Fatherland," he said.

A great violation of human rights in Venezuela.... by the right? THE RIGHT HASN'T HAD THE LEAST BIT OF POWER IN VENEZUELA IN NEARLY 20 YEARS! As a matter of fact, THERE IS NO RIGHT. Only the extreme left of Marx/Leninism/Trotskyism that calls itself the Sons of Chavez, with an ill-educated, bus driving moron who talks to birds (it was Chavez!) as its glorious leader.
Any bets on if this "Mega Blackout" extends into next month?

(2,412 posts)The Mrs and I went out for supper last night and when our meals came, I looked at the cornucopia of food on my plate and commented that I feel a little guilty eating a prime rib sandwich when so many are eating filth from garbage tips and drinking from the Guaire and bathing in sewers. Mrs Gato reminded me that we give a lot and do a lot.
We have a lot to be thankful for.
I hope this nightmare ends soon.

(285 posts)God bless both of you, but damn, a prime rib sammich? You do know how to rub it in.
BTW, even though Cristal is now in Madrid getting the medical attention she desperately needed, her uncle has taken on the responsibility of running her foundation. He loves the work even though he doesn't have a lot of spare time. He's traveling to this side of the country this week to deliver a few hundred kilos of powdered milk to needy families in Maturin. Of course, his mom is sky high with the thought of seeing her only son, especially with his two sisters now living abroad.
