Spare me your outrage. If Trump did in the US what Maduro did in Venezuela, you would call it a coup
Imagine Trump creating extra seats on the US Supreme Court and stacking them with conservatives.
Would you be okay with that?
Maduro did that.
Imagine a national election where the Democrats beat the Republicans in the House. Imagine, there were irregularities about a handful of seats but the House would seat those Representatives anyway. Imagine, the republican-controlled Supreme Court responds by declaring the whole US House of Representatives illegitimate and by giving itself legislative powers.
Would you be okay with that?
Maduro did that.
Imagine a national election for a committee that is supposed to write a draft for amending the US Constitution. Republicans win 100% of seats on that committee while the corporation who built the voting-machines declares that these machines had been manipulated. The committee gets seated anyways.
Would you be okay with that?
Maduro did that.
Imagine that this 100% republican-controlled draft-writing committee declares themselves the new House and starts passing legislation that is then signed by Trump and treated by the government as if the House had passed it.
Would you be okay with that?
Maduro did that.
And now as the people of Venezuela stand up against a lawless President, NOW you call it a coup?
