1. This is a superb article. F.A.I.R. is formidably courageous, un-flinching, as well as Greg Grandin.

Otto Reich's thoroughly dirty actions regarding coercion of the media during Iran/Contra got him into trouble with Congress, when they found he was illegally forcing false stories on the U. S. American public, operating from the Office of Public Diplomacy, using taxpayers' hard-earned tax dollars to underwrite TOTALLY false information regarding the war against leftists in Nicaragua create support for the covert war on that country, involving the rest of Central America, as well.

I am going to re-read it, and need to thank you for posting it. You easily will be attacked if the trolls aren't busy enough to miss seeing it! You got the true picture nailed and posted, and anyone who wants to learn more can do himself/herself a favor and start doing that research on US policy and actions regarding Mexico, the Caribbean Islands, Central and South America A.S.A.P., one of the most important areas one can finally GET RIGHT through searching deliberately for the truth. It has been whitewashed from the first, of course, because it's so damned wrong, and they are ashamed. If they weren't they wouldn't have lied all this time!

Could you imagine if Nicolás Maduro ran the elections while running for office? As happened with Brian Kemp in Georgia.

Imagine what would happen if a suspect that connected Maduro to a sex-trafficking-ring died in a Venezuelan prison? Trump, Pence, Pompeo, Bolton, Abrams... would be lobbing nukes into Venezuela right now. With NPR, CNN, and the rest cheering them on.

4. You're right. So long ago, after all the First Citizens had been nearly destroyed, the government

started getting busy in trying to control all the countries in the Western Hemisphere below the southern border, and has never, ever for a moment seriously considered leaving them the hell alone, treating them with the respect they of course deserve. Deals have been made from the first with the European invaders to allow the US businesses to plunder, rape, exploit the earth itself, everything growing on the earth, and the desperately poor labor pool, easily kept in check with heavily armed US-connected and supported right-wing leaders, easily controlled, of course. Those racist leaders have been more than happy to sell out the darker complected indigenous and mixed ancestry citizens as they have never considered them their equals, just like the racist oligarchs here.

During occassional lapses in oversight, which happened during the time George W. Bush's main energy was directed at the Mid-East, Latin American citizens elected real leaders who represented the people, very many of them having been tortured and imprisoned themselves by right-wing dictatorships, or had family members tortured, even murdered in prison or BOTH, like Chilean President Michelle Bachelet.

When someone speaks out from a base of awareness regarding this history, it is ALWAYS a triumph, every time, over the hard effort which has been applied to mold, manipulate, manage public perception throughout this culture from at least as far back as the Spanish-American war.

Much which should be known has been buried in government records, with occasional Freedom of Information requests actually getting some info. begrudgingly declassified and revealed when it is no longer viewed as defensibly withheld.

Once anyone who has lived an entire lifetime totally bamboozled, as I have been, living in total ignorance, finally catches a glimpse of what has been hidden all this time, even late in life, there is no going back, and the process of discovery is itself a celebration every time a new insight looms into view.

So glad to see you are among those who have started cutting through the mind-prison yourself, and thank you, so much for your comments.
