UN requests to investigate Bolivia's massacres in 2019

UN requests to investigate Bolivia's massacres in 2019La Paz, Nov 12 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia's representation of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights requested on Thursday to investigate the massacres in Sacaba (department of Cochabamba) and Senkata (La Paz) that occurred in 2019.

The Mission urges the State to investigate the incidents, reconstruct the truth, guarantee the memory and dignify the victims, the United Nations Office assured on Twitter.

UN representatives participated in the ceremony to pay tribute to some of the victims of the military repression unleashed by the de facto government that took office after the coup against Evo Morales a year ago.

Previously, the same Office, chaired by Michelle Bachelet, expressed concern about the serious violation of Human Rights in those conflicts.

Jeanine Añez, who led the de facto government until October 18 elections, will be accountable for signing a decree that authorized the Armed Forces to carry out operations and exempted them from any criminal responsibility.

A Bolivian parliamentary commission is currently investigating who ordered and carried out the massacres of Senkata, in El Alto, next to La Paz, and Sacaba, in the Cochabamba department.
