Only a little OT. I need to stop watching the RNC...

...Convention. If they launch one more 'strawman' into the air and then blame it on Obama and/or the Dems, I am going to scream.

Now they're saying 'America's best days' are NOT behind us (in a Reagan Tribute) and want us to believe that's what Obama thinks. It's crap.

Ryan did the same thing with his lies last night.

It's all they have. When you have no functioning policies, no ideas for governing, this is all you are left with. Your brilliant ideas make no sense (except to your billionaire backers). Lie, lie, lie, lie ....

I suggest some good music and an interesting novel.

...right. That is all they have. I think the music/novel idea is just what I need for the weekend. Thank you for letting me vent.

P.S. Have a great Labor Day weekend!

I did not listen (way too many lies and semi-truths). However, my MIL (92 and always thinking she pays too much taxes) said he was full of crap. So, I guess he may have pleased the faithful, but for the rest, it remains to be seen.

Frankly, I am unsure why Clint Eastwood spoke. From all I hear, he came out as silly. But it may have been to allow people to see Romney as inspired.

...Fox, wasn't it? As to Clint Eastwood, I've always kind of been a fan. But I think he embarrassed himself with that impromptu skit of his. I think it just showed poor planning/judgment on the part of the Romney Campaign to let it happen. But that was obvious on day one...Monday...by the C-Span coverage.

said he liked what Eastwood did.

It may be my age or that I am from the Midwest, but when did it become ok for someone at a major party's convention, in their primest of prime time, to make a joke that implies the President speaking as Cheney did to Leahy.

I remember how bent out of shape the Republicans were when Whoopi Goldberg made a crude vulgar joke based on Bush's last name at a fundraiser - not the convention. Kerry was not there when it was said, but he quickly distanced himself.

Now on some RW sites, they are claiming that the end result is that people will think less of Obama. It seems to me that the only people who would think anything sensible was said were people who already hated Obama.

Given that over 50% of the voters think favorably of Obama, I think Romney condoning this could have made a mistake - especially as people already thought they didn't like him.

One sign that the entire convention backfired is that it has the lowest value of people more likely to vote for him minus those who are less likely. http://www.gallup.com/poll/157256/gop-convention-romney-speech-evoke-lukewarm-reactions.aspx?utm_source=alert&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=syndication&utm_content=morelink&utm_term=All%20Gallup%20Headlines%20-%20Politics This might be the best indicator of the success of the convention as comparing the pre and post numbers would include what the other side did and outside events (like the faux terror alert the morning after Kerry's)
