DALLAS — Airlines are falling behind schedule more often and mishandling more bags, but customers aren't making a federal case out of it.

Academics who study the airline industry say that consumer complaints to the government dropped 15 percent last year after spiking in 2012.

The researchers will detail their conclusions in a report Monday. Among their findings:

— United Airlines climbed out of last place in the rate of customer complaints.

Oh great - Frontier

As United is dumping Cleveland as a hub, Frontier is coming in and I was hoping that there would be some improvement there, looks like jumping from one frying pan to another.

"a certain amount of resignation" LOL, Resignation that complaining does nothing to improve your next flight.

We're being conditioned to accept poor service for higher costs. After all, what are the alternatives?
As far as UAL, how could you be last when you're competing with Spirit?

but that's so un-'pc.' My career was in a federal government agency working on transportation matters, I began near the beginning of the deregulation 'movement,' and have watched it and its consequences grow.
