An economy past capatilism
My Saturdays normally include listening to WNUR's "This is Hell" show. It's a great show with long format interviews with people you won't hear or see on commercial media.
Today's show had an interview with Gar Alperovitz discussing the re release of his book "America Beyond Capitalism". A wonderful interview about a subject we all know has to be discussed.
The interview should be available at www.thisishell.net by Monday and the authors website is http://www.garalperovitz.com/abc/
Some reviews of the book
Praise for the first edition:
America Beyond Capitalism comes at a critical time in our historywhen we all know our system isnt working but we are not sure what can be done about it. This book takes us outside the confines of orthodox thinking, imagines a new way of living together, and then brings that vision back into reality with a set of eminently practical ideas that promise a truly democratic society.
Howard Zinn, author of A Peoples History of the United States
An important guidebook to the future. First, Alperovitz leads a grim tour of the deteriorated values at the core of the American experience equality, liberty, democracy, and the wise use of our collective wealth. Then he takes us to the mountaintop with a broad and optimistic mapping vision of how Americans can remake their economy and society to restore those values. A compelling and convincing story of the future.
William Greider, author of The Soul of a Capitalism: Opening Paths to a Moral Economy
I hope you will check out both the radio show and the book. I intend to put the latest addition on my bookshelf ASAP.
