General Motors Website As Faulty As Its Ignition Switches
Sunday, August 3rd, 2014

The website General Motors has provided to the public about their vehicle recalls – that includes the deadly ignition switch problem – has provided false information. That’s according to information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

When customers entered in their vehicle’s identification number to learn if their car was a part of the recall, the website would sometimes say the vehicle wasn’t a model being recalled.

Greg Martin, a spokesman for GM said the company was aware of the inquiry from the NHTSA on the VIN look-up process. He said the company was taking the necessary steps to ensure this did not happen again. The company said the website was undergoing maintenance and customers who had questions could call the service line.

The NHTSA suggested any person who used the website to check their vehicle’s number needs to recheck to ensure it really isn’t a part of the recall.
