In my opinion there will be a long, slow downward slide.

My financial guy pointed out that we've gone over 1,000 days without a ten percent correction, so we are pretty much overdue for one. Or perhaps for a lengthy go nowhere market that over time would serve the same purpose.

I only hope things improve, meaning Dems get full control, sometime in the next 20 or so years, so my children and grandchildren will have something of value in my estate.

to bet against the resilience of the American economy, but it looks to me like we may be entering a period of deflation in everything but groceries and ammunition. Republican policy initiatives since Obama came in have been generally deflationary. I'm nervous about what's in store if they take over the Senate. The way McConnell has been talking it sounds like they're planning to defund the government piece meal.

The more the Tea Partiers talk about default, the more the market will freak out. It will be close to the drop dead date, early on they will perceive it as political theater.
