Why is Russia obsessed with cryptocurrency?

I see it over and over again in articles over at RT. They are pushing Bitcoins, Ether, Ethereum andsoforth really, really hard.

Why?

To weaken the US-Dollar?

Or because Russia plans to introduce the "crypto-rubble"?

"You too can earn money in your spare time by mining crypto-rubbles. All you need is this russian-government-issued software running on your PC and Smartphone 24/7."

you can build your economy by breaking someone elses. It's easier to manipulate and hack data than haul gold.
