1. Dow futures drop 1,000 points as Trump speech disappoints investors

Dow futures were down 1,067 points, indicating a loss of about 1,027 points at Thursday’s open. S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures were also sharply lower.

“The crux of the angst investors are feeling as the coronavirus spreads surrounds what might happen to consumer spending,” wrote Scott Wren, senior global market strategist at Wells Fargo Investment Institute.

“Consumers sitting at home and not out spending money because they fear catching the coronavirus is the ultimate negative outcome,” he added. “It has been the U.S. consumer who has been driving the recovery bus during this long expansion.”

Last night's address did NOT help the situation. All the markets are looking to start down @5%.

6. So I check in . . .

At 1:09 EDT. DJIA is down 964.

At 1:10 I click on an article, skim it, come back and DJIA is down 1400+.

At 1:11 I refresh the page and it's down 1129.

Now 1:13 and it's -1433.

Is this what you call volatility? Or have we moved into market terror?
