MNA Nurses Reach Contract Agreement with Essentia Health
(Duluth, MN) - August 22, 2019 - Members of the Minnesota Nurses Association and Essentia Health reached a tentative contract agreement on August 21, following an informational picket one day earlier.
"Essentia Health apparently saw the public supports nurses' efforts to negotiate a fair contract that helps nurses provide the care all our patients need," said MNA negotiating team member Chris Rubesch. "Nurses appreciate the hundreds of elected officials, union members, and allies who walked the picket line, made videos, and shared messages on social media. Voicing our concerns about our short staffing crisis with the public showed Essentia that nurses would not give up the fight for fair compensation and measures to recruit and retain more nurses to address staffing issues."
Nurses will vote on the agreement in the next few weeks. No date has been set yet.
