The Omaha fire union voted Thursday night to accept a new contract negotiated with Mayor Jean Stothert.
Steve LeClair, union president, said the tentative deal will maintain an “exemplary quality of emergency services'' in the city.
“No rigs will be taken out of service, and no fire stations will be closed,'' LeClair said in a statement.
He said the agreement also extends layoff protections to all firefighters employed as of Feb. 4.
