(6,819 posts)by a governing group that had no idea had to run an orchestra in the 21st century. The Twin Cities is facing losing this group (the conductor has already resigned) because they are unable to figure out how to reward a group of this caliber and at the same time fund this world-class orchestra into the future. Minnesotans who love classical music are heartbroken. Step up and support the musicians -- they are going it alone!

(115,674 posts)It's been there for many months, unfortunately, and probably will be there for months to come. Losing Osmo Vanska was a disaster; they won't be able to get a conductor of his caliber again for a long time, if ever. The board of directors is mostly a bunch of rich bankers who don't give a crap about music; as far as I can tell they were just in it for the prestige (which is pretty much gone by now). They were trying to run the orchestra like it was just another business. Fucking capitalist swine.
