LABOR DAY: Wynn Resorts says that it would use union labor to build its proposed Everett casino.
Wynn Resorts says it has matched rival Mohegan Suns labor deal, to ensure that union workers build its proposed resort casino.
In a statement yesterday, Wynn Resorts, which has proposed a $1.3 billion resort casino in Everett that it claims would create 4,000 construction jobs and 4,300 permanent jobs, said it has a preliminary agreement with the Building and Construction Trades Council of the Metropolitan District and the New England Council of Carpenters, which anticipates the negotiation of a full Project Labor Agreement in the near future. If we were to receive the license, we would partner with labor unions to forge mutually beneficial agreements akin to those we enjoy with our unions in Las Vegas.
On Sunday, Mohegan Sun announced that it already had signed an agreement with the two groups, stipulating that, if Revere voters approve a $1.3 billion casino on Feb. 25 and if it is awarded the gaming license, the project, which would create 2,500 construction jobs, would be built with union labor.
