The musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra say they are ready to return to work for a world-class symphony orchestra now that a record-breaking, 16-month lockout has ended.
The Musicians are pleased that we have come to a solution with our board, and we are ready to begin the hard work that lies ahead together, said Tim Zavadil, clarinetist and negotiator.
We are eager to perform for our community at home in Orchestra Hall once again. We have seen firsthand the deep love for this orchestra, and we are confident that this community will, in fact, continue to support a world-class symphony orchestra.
In a letter to the community posted on their website, the musicians confirmed they have ratified a new collective bargaining agreement effective Feb. 1 that ends the lockout instituted by management on Oct. 1, 2012. They said they expect their first performances in early February.
