A 27-year-old ironworker fell about 25 feet Thursday at a Sarpy County site where construction of the U.S. Highway 34 bridge is under way.

The man fell about 9:30 a.m. onto a rebar form into which concrete was to be poured, said Sgt. Rob Hillabrand of the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was alert and conscious after the fall.

He was taken in critical condition to Creighton University Medical Center with an injury to his right shoulder and perhaps a head injury, Hillabrand said.
