Employees will be laid off in three waves as HanesBrands completes the closure of a Maidenform distribution center in Cumberland County.
The last stage, which will lay off the final 30 employees, is expected to happen at the end March - a few months later than the Winston-Salem-based textile giant initially predicted, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act letter sent to the North Carolina Department of Commerce earlier this week.
About 176 employees are expected to be laid off in the coming months, the letter said, with nearly 40 being let go in late September.
About 108 employees will be laid off in late November and the final employees will be laid off March 31.
