One could say that brewing beer is important to the identity of the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Even the city’s baseball team goes by the name the “Brewers.” And so on this day in Labor History the year was 1953. The beer brewers in Milwaukee walked off the job in what came to be a ten week strike.

"The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous!"

For a number of years, I REALLY supported Milwaukee brewers and the union. I started on Schlitz, then moved up to Schlitz Malt Liquor, then...Tall Boys! Living in Texas, I also consumed unholy amounts of Lone Star Longnecks (not union)!

Of course, from there it went downhill. No more premium beers, I ended up drinking Dixie beer out of Louisiana, .99 a six-pack. Chased it with Mad Dog and T-bird! That is, chased the six-pack with a bottle of...

I don't drink anymore... since Dixie beer went over a buck!
