There’s nothing better than seeing animals do things that are just downright stupid. What’s not to love about a squirrel doing the splits or penguins shouting at a seal?

If that’s what you’re after, then we’ve got a treat for you, as the best entries so far in the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2018 has just been released.

The awards, founded by Tom Sullam and Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE, aim to use laughter to raise awareness for wildlife conservation. A panel of judges pores through the images to find the best and funniest each year.

Aside from those mentioned above, the early entries also include a squirrel having a good old sigh to itself, a lemur with a shocked face, and one poor photographer’s camera being dragged off by a fox.

those aren't squirrels in that last photo! They are prairie dogs. That's the second time lately I've seen prairie dogs incorrectly identified as squirrels on the internet by someone I thought should know better.
