What do you all think of the Arctic News blog?

http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/

Looks like the guy is posting about worst case climate change scenarios. He has global biodiversity collapse possibly happening in 2019, and doomsday possibly in 2021. He thinks the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) is a part the problem of denial in this country because it sets the worst possible effects of climate change much further out than he thinks it will happen.

I just ran across that site the other day when a DUer posted a link to it.

I'm of the opinion that we are now missing the window of opportunity we have to really do something about the issue, and that it would take drastic measures starting right now to avoid the worst case scenarios. But I was thinking further into the future for the completely catastrophic stuff- more like mid to late century.

Do you think this guy is onto something?

I read about this issue here and there, and I think this is the most pressing problem we have right now for humanity on a global scale. What are some good web sites that you'd recommend to keep me up to date?

I think the post in which he tries to fit a polynomial to just a few recent temps is bunk muriel_volestrangler Dec 2018 #3

Looks like a wealth of good information. We better start to make climate change our number one priority, because if we don’t everything else is just waste of time.

I'd suggest ignoring all figures in posts by Sam Carana there. It's ridiculous to take about a dozen readings and then, with no physical justification, fit 'a polynomial' (what order? Why did he pick that order?) to them and claim it predicts temperatures are about to run away. Effectivelty, he's taking one month's increase and saying he thinks that's only the start - that every monthfrom now on, the increases will get rapidly bigger than that, because it was bigger than the increase a few months ago.

It's just as unscientific as the deniers who cherrypick a few years and claim warming has stopped , or point to a decrease since the lat El Nino peak. He's playing with the noise and extrapolating it.

Follow climate scientists if you want facts and predictions about science. Michael Mann, James Hansen, Gavin Schmidt - people like that.

I have very little formal training in science. I appreciate the insight and the recommendations.
