I'm thinking of buying a Kia Niro. It has a 100,000 mile warranty. Thoughts or suggestions (n/t) (Original Post) RamblingRose Sep 2019 OP

Reviews are pretty much positive and I was thinking of getting one myself last year. Everyone I know with a Kia or Hyundai (they are pretty much the same company) is happy with it.

I'd say go for it.

I bought a used Prius and it has over 180k miles on main battery. Toyota has really good software that manages how their battery is used and charged.

When the Prius first came out the major sell against was that you would have to replace the main battery after 100,000 miles and it would cost $10k. There's a place in Scottsburg Indiana that sells rebuilt batteries w/ warranty for under $1k. So neither of the main points against ended up being true.

I really like how the stop/start works with a hybrid. With conventional IC cars, you have wait a couple of seconds for the engine to restart before taking off from a stop. With a hybrid you have power from the electric drive immediately after letting off the brake. BTW, Prius have a bad rep for being slow in good part because owners are trying to delay the restart of the IC engine as long as possible and slow acceleration does that. Normal take off will usually start the IC engine.
