Related: About this forumYesterday it was a record 52F in Fargo.
"No such think as man-made global warming" my rear end. 52F, In Fargo, on the day after Christmas. Jesus Christ!
We are not supposed to have normal winter conditions (high of 10F, low of -5F) for another week.

(41,757 posts)Boreal and temperate northern hemisphere temperatures are rising faster than the global average.
Get used to brown Christmases - and record high temps in the northern tier of states.

(549 posts)The weather will be different.
I can see the connection....

(9,976 posts)The weather in one particular city for one particular week is evidence of nothing. NOTHING.
Let me ask you a simple question.
If I were to go out and find some city somewhere in the world that saw unusually low temperatures for the last week would you accept that as evidence that AGW wasn't happening? Didn't think so.
The 'G' in AGW is there for a reason.
Get it?

(19,233 posts)If only we had some ways to compare things like this over time, like graphs or maps or something.
You know, something like this: http://www.arborday.org/media/mapchanges.cfm

(549 posts)You point is consistently to downplay climate change.
You are totally correct that the daily temperature in one location is meaningless as a measure of how we're screwing our climate and our weather. What we have to do is to look at larger scale measurements and when we do we should not be surprised that it was t-shirt weather in Fargo in late December.
Here's what has been happening in the US...
And here's what has been happening over the entire globe...
The 'G' in AGW is there for a reason.
Get it?
The 'A' in AGW is also there for a reason.
Got that as well?

(2,282 posts)The scale of the Global Land Ocean Temperature Index chart is in tenths of a degree. 8/10ths of a degree change in 120+ years...whoopty doo. A bunch of sound and fury signifying nothing. Frankly I'm surprised the chart only uses tenths of a degree and not hundredths of a degree as the change would appear more dramatic and they could scare more people.
The other graphic is equally unimpressive.

(19,233 posts)Once again, you're playing fast and loose with the facts as usual.

to say they are independent of each other is laughable.
but then again, you admitted to being a climate change denier, without qualification --and that's laughable, though i don't mean to make fun of your religion.

The fact that your comment has nothing to do with mine is not why you can't go ice fishing.

(46,192 posts)so one day of weather is certainly part of the climate.
:youfail:
when the weather is setting a record amount of records.. more records of records every year in fact.
And then the deniers I know will of course use the next snowstorm as evidence that everything's just fine LOL oh I laffed so hard I barfed..

(8,601 posts)Instead we're seeing upper 60s almost every day with an occasional cooldown to "normal." I think we're below "normal" like 2-3 days per month, if that.
Having to keep the windows open just to stop the sun from making the bedroom too warm in the evening in December sucks.

Likely to be a lot of air conditioner running in your future....

(3,874 posts)I believe some of it is a predicted consequence on a strong La Nina. Regardless, it has been noticeably warm for this time of year.
