Canadian opposition leader: Government playing US 'for fools' on Keystone
Canadas opposition leader will visit Washington, D.C., this week to counter statements by Canadian officials in a recent lobbying blitz supporting the Keystone XL oil sands pipeline.
The trip by Tom Mulcair, of Canadas New Democratic Party, comes amidst a series of United States trips by Canadian officials to meet with Obama administration personnel and lawmakers about the pipeline.
According to Canadas National Post, Mulcairs message to the lawmakers and business executives with whom he plans to meet is that the Canadian government is playing people for fools by championing the nations environmental record.
Ostensibly, the goal is to convince U.S. policymakers that Canada wouldnt back Keystone if it were as bad for the climate and environment as opponents claim.

He called Prime Minister Stephen Harpers Conservative Party out of step with the whole planet and weak and disinterested on the environment.
