because the demand for white clothing and the bleach to keep it that way would be minimized.

CW in the corporate world is that "green" is just BS. They fake being green in commercials or they will find some way to make themselves more money and then claim they are doing it to be green. For example, eliminating packaging, forcing you to use online payment, or bogus organic foods.
